General Information: Founded in 1998, the Honors Program is designed to provide enriched, interdisciplinary learning experiences that explore social justice issues in a metropolitan setting. The program prepares engaged students to understand and address complex social problems, to enact social justice principles in their academic and civic practices, and to make meaningful contributions in their roles as citizens, scholars, and professionals. Rigorous courses prepare students to contribute to discussions about significant social issues. The program emphasizes community-based learning and original research by offering challenging interdisciplinary seminars, promoting experiential learning, requiring a thesis project, creating venues in which students can share their academic work, offering personalized advising, and facilitating mentoring relationships for students.
Paid research assistantships, supervised by RU faculty, are available for participating Honors students.
