Hillsborough Community College
The Director of the Honors Institute works with Honors students to negotiate scholarships and transfer opportunities on their behalf. Students graduating from the Honors Institute have been accepted to prestigious colleges and universities. The Honors Institute has many opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills, from providing assistance to the Honors Office staff to serving as club officers or board members. Students have opportunities to be engaged in community service through volunteering and representing the Honors Institute in a variety of areas. They are invited to participate in conferences and seminars where they not only meet peers from other institutions, they present and moderate. The Honors Institute offers international travel, local field trips, workshops, the student organization Arete, PTK, Hillsborough Community College’s Student Government Association – all of these offer opportunities for growth and engagement. The Honors students are challenged to accept their moral responsibilities which include leadership, thoughtful self-governance, and service to others. Graduating students are strongly encouraged to stay engaged in Honors as Alumni and as mentors to current students.
